Grief is the price we pay for love, you told us this was so.
And now descends an autumn
chill, the North wind starts to blow.
But glorious dazzling
lady, we hear you in our dreams,
Familiar, reassuring
tones; the voice of our warrior Queen.
Standing proudly as her
subjects - in silence, deep we mourn,
For the Queen of Hearts and
Sovereign liege, we’ve known since we were born.
Courage is the choice when
life gets tough, you spoke to us in truth,
We need to be brave
through every trial, in old age and in youth.
Awoke this day in the
dawn’s early light, felt emptiness inside,
Pushed the window open
wide – let a thousand memories slide …
Flooding like a morning
tide … with you not here, we know …
That grief is the price we
pay for love, you told us this was so.
But all the magic years
have been, with all the wonders we have seen,
Living in such historic
times, you shared with us fate’s fickle lines.
But not with hate nor to
destroy - but to build things up with love and joy …
And waging peace, not claw
of war – what everybody knew you for.
With faithfulness in
clarity, dignity in tragedy, humility in majesty …
And oh those wondrous
jubilees, weaving through our memories,
Those halcyon sunny days
of fun, of Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Of summers passed and
fresh cut grass, of dancing nights and hearty laughs.
With smallest steps such
giant leaps, through fields of faith, where sower reaps.
Where only windy willow
weeps, in a carriage t’where the ghost of Christmas sleeps ...
To the paradise promised …
and a promise is for keeps …
She
enters with a smile so radiant, the sun himself he blinks,
In heavenly realms the
angels sing, the moon wakes up and winks.
Upon the River of Life she
glows, meandering through enchanted flows.
And
each day - new beginnings, reminds us, so we know,
That grief is the price we
pay for love, she told us this was so.
